Friday, December 22, 2023, Gurugram: SGS’s softlines testing laboratory in Chennai is proud to have been recognized as a ‘Noteworthy Water-Efficient Unit’ at the National Competition for Excellence in Water Management 2023, organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and CII Triveni Water Institute. The certificate was presented at the ceremony for 17th CII National Awards For Excellence In Water Management 2023, held in New Delhi on December 13, 2023. This recognition underscores SGS's dedication to sustainable water management, further establishing its reputation as a frontrunner in environmental conservation and stewardship.
The award recognises companies who have done well with respect to improving water use efficiency and have an integrated approach for wastewater management system which includes recycle, recovery and reuse of industrial effluents. The process of qualification adheres to a transparent and rigorous assessment which includes 3 levels of scrutiny and verification. The results of each assessment are reviewed by a pre-eminent jury, comprising of former bureaucrats, representatives of government, industry and academia at two stages before arriving at the final decision.

SGS’s state-of-the-art softlines testing laboratory in Ambattur, Chennai is accredited with ISO/IEC 17025:2017, ISO 9001:2015, ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001: 2015. It covers a wide range of tests on textile, footwear, leather and other multifarious products. The laboratory has implemented several projects for efficient water management and conservation, including domestic use; rainwater harvesting, reduction of chemical sludge and recycling of water, yielding significant results in water conservation.
