Textile Engineering Students in Tamil Nadu India Get Technical Training From SGS Academy

SGS Academy in India provides technical training to textile engineering students as part of its community initiatives.

As part of our corporate social responsibility initiatives around ‘Community Development’, SGS Academy has provided skill-based vocational training to 132 textile engineering and fashion technology students in Tamil Nadu, India. The training will help to improve students’ qualifications, upskill them and enhance their employability.

The selected group of students, from the Bannari Amman Institute of Technology, in Sathyamangalam, as well as the NIFT-TEA College of Knitwear Fashion in Tirupur, are from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. They were provided an intensive 11-day training course by SGS Academy. This training program focused on developing participants’ aptitude in various aspects related to textile manufacturing, such as:

• In-depth knowledge about textile fibers
• Textile manufacturing process and steps for quality control
• Familiarization with equipment and materials used for conversion of raw fiber into spun yarn
• Textile industry regulations and compliances
• Effective waste management principles
• Training sessions to improve soft skills as well as presentation skills for industry interactions.

This training helps to develop students’ knowledge and understanding of the textile manufacturing process, keep them up-to-date with the latest industry best practices, technical standards and current legal and regulatory compliance expectations, and qualifies them for suitable jobs in the industry. The students were awarded a certificate by SGS Academy after successful completion of the training program.
