UWED Inspections for E-Commerce & Logistics

State-of-the-art warehouses are increasingly deploying warehouse automation systems to boost productivity, efficiency and safety. In the EU, the safety of these systems is regulated by the Use of Work Equipment Directive 2009/104/EC (UWED), which is transposed into local laws by each member state. The directive emphasizes safe machine integration into the work environment. It states that employers must ensure equipment is fit and safe for use before making it available. Periodic tests, inspections, maintenance and repairs to maintain its safe operation are also required.*
