FSSC 22000 is a globally recognized food safety standard. Version 7 is aligned with new industry requirements and global trends.
This update introduces significant changes, including the adoption of the ISO 22002:2025 series, compliance with GFSI Benchmarking 2024 and enhanced support for the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Reasons for the transition
- Adoption of the ISO 22002:2025 series PRPs
- Alignment with GFSI Benchmarking Requirements version 2024
- Strengthening requirements to support organizations’ contributions to the SDGs
- Clearer structure for categorizing the food supply chain
- Continuous improvement through content updates and revisions
Publication timeline
- The official release date for FSSC 22000 Version 7 is not yet confirmed, but it is expected to be around late Q1 or early Q2 of 2026
- There will be a 12-month transition period from the date of publication, to allow organizations time to implement the new standard
Requirements for implementing FSSC 22000
FSSC 22000 v7 will consist of three elements:
- ISO 22000:2018 (Food Safety Management System) requirements
- Sector-Specific PRPs (ISO/TS 22002 series), updated and published on July 29, 2025, as the ISO 22002:2025 series
- FSSC 22000 scheme requirements, will be available on the official FSSC 22000 website for download
Changes to ISO 22000
- Amendment 1, addressing climate action, was added to ISO 22000:2018 in early 2024
- A new version of ISO 22000 is under development. The draft is currently being reviewed by the relevant working group
- Updates and downloads are available on the ISO website
Changes to the ISO 22002-x Series
- Updated and published on July 29, 2025, as the ISO 22002:2025 series
- Transition from ISO/TS 22002 to the ISO 22002-x Series for greater global applicability
- Introduction of ISO 22002-100:2025, a core standard consolidating common PRPs across sectors
- Addition of ISO 22002-7:2025 for retail and wholesale
- ISO 22002-100:2025 will be used alongside sector-specific ISO 22002-x standards
- ISO 22002-100:2025 does not apply to primary production (e.g. farming)
- Previous versions of ISO/TS 22002-x remain valid for audits under FSSC 22000 Version 6
