SGS Welcomes Secretariat on Hong Kong Council for Testing and Certification (HKCTC) for Company Visit

We recently welcomed representatives from the Secretariat on Hong Kong Council for Testing and Certification (the delegation) to our Hong Kong office. The delegation included Mr. Bernard Lo, Assistant Commissioner (Quality Services) of the Innovation and Technology Commission. The visit served as a valuable platform for us to exchange views on the future of the local Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) sector and explore technology applications in Hong Kong.

During the visit, both parties engaged in meaningful exchanges on the evolving market landscape. We explored how our new development on services in general, sustainability solutions and digital trust services can collectively empower local businesses, helping them strengthen quality assurance, enhance market competitiveness and seamlessly navigate changing market expectations.

We then accompanied the delegation on a tour of our laboratory facilities, which provided a firsthand look at our daily operations. During the walkthrough, we demonstrated how our teams conduct routine safety and quality assessments across a range of products and materials. It was also a great opportunity for us to share how we continually adopt the latest technologies to cope with latest market development and streamline our testing procedures.

This exchange reinforces our commitment to supporting the continuous growth of Hong Kong's TIC sector. Serving as a key regional hub and our APAC headquarters, we remain dedicated to leveraging our global network to help customers meet their safety, quality and compliance goals, empowering them to “Go Global” successfully. Moving forward, we will continue to work alongside government bodies, industry partners, and local enterprises to navigate the complexities of compliance and sustainability, while driving the practical adoption of innovative technologies across the industry.

The Hong Kong Council for Testing and Certification (HKCTC) was established in September 2009 to advise the Government on the overall development strategy of the testing and certification (T&C) industry. Members of the Council include practitioners from the T&C industry, business sector, professional organisations as well as representatives of the relevant public bodies and government departments. The Innovation and Technology Commission provides support to HKCTC.
