As part of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), toys that are placed for sale in the State of Kuwait need to comply with the Gulf Technical Regulation on Children’s Toys, which lays down the essential safety requirements which toys must meet for the protection of consumer health and safety, and of the environment.
Since January 2014, toys entering the GCC market have been required to comply with the GCC Technical Regulation on Children’s Toys. Compliant toys are required to display the GCC conformity quality mark, the G-Mark. This applies to all toys intended for use in play by children under 14 years of age.
The Public Authority for Industry of the State of Kuwait (PAI) implemented specific scheme to verify the conformity of all 'Regulated Products' and form the Kuwait Conformity Assurance Scheme (KUCAS), which require a Technical Evaluation Report (TER) and a Technical Inspection Report (TIR) for customs clearance.
PAI recently announced that as of March 1st 2022, all children's toys must obtain GSO Conformity Tracking Symbol (GCTS) and Gulf Type Examination Certificates in accordance with the requirements of the GCC Technical Regulation and compliance with the procedures of KUCAS, and bear QR code logo before importation and release in the Kuwaiti market.
Gulf States GCC Certification from SGS ensures toys comply with requirements for sale and distribution in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states.
