Marking a significant shift for distributors, retailers and brands, it replaces directive-based guidance with directly applicable legal requirements and introduces strict controls across the packaging life cycle.

Which packaging is in scope?

EU Packaging Regulation 2026 covers all packaging and packaging waste, regardless of material, sector or origin, that is available on the EU market. Packaging refers to any item that is intended to be used for the containment, protection, handling, delivery or presentation of products, but is not an integral part of the product.
