The impact of perfluorinated and polyfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS) on the environment and public health is receiving increasing attention. Our environmental analytics team will be taking part in the 7th International PFAS Congress, to be held in Paris from June 16 to 19. The event will bring together key stakeholders, such as government, environmental, and educational organizations, to address numerous topics related to this issue.
Seven PFAS-related themes will be addressed and discussed: the international legal context, identification and characterization of PFAS sources, site studies, environmental and health risks, remediation plans, treatment technologies, and research and development.
Presentation on PFAS in Firefighting Foams
We are committed to contributing to the development of new analytical techniques for PFAS compounds. At the congress, we will be focusing on the analysis of PFAS in firefighting foams.
Our Sales Engineer, Anne Le Cudonnec, will present a timely topic on June 17th at 9:30 am: "PFAS in Firefighting Foams: Regulations and Analytical Methods".
Regulations on the use of PFAS in firefighting foams are becoming increasingly stringent across Europe. This underscores the importance of research on the PFAS components in foams. However, analysis is complex, as the regulatory framework encompasses not only individual components but also associated substances, such as PFAS precursors.
The presentation will cover current and future regulations on PFAS in firefighting foams. It also aims to provide a comprehensive and detailed overview of existing analytical techniques, their applications and limitations, as well as the latest advances in this important field.
