SGS is pleased to announce the acquisition of SYNLAB Analytics & Services (A&S), a leading European provider for environment, food, hygiene, pharma and products (tribology) analysis and testing, as from January 1, 2021. A&S was a division of SYNLAB, a leading medical diagnostic services provider in Europe.
Regionally, the acquisition enhances SGS’s market position in Europe, by strengthening our presence, especially in Germany and Benelux, while enabling us to enter new attractive markets in the Nordics.
Synlab A&S’s assets and operations will improve our European footprint, adding approximately 2,000 highly skilled employees, a significant client portfolio and a network of laboratories and customer service centers that span 11 countries. The combination of A&S and SGS’s European laboratory network will accelerate the adoption of a hub-and-spoke model, creating a more comprehensive range of testing services and generating strong operating synergies. Furthermore, it will also enhance our sales structure across the regions.
SGS is confident that this acquisition, with the combination of networks and expertise, can lead to even better service provision for our customers. By joining forces, we will be well positioned to meet increasing client demands triggered by higher levels of regulation in the environmental, hygiene, food and pharmaceutical sectors and also to enhance our offering in tribology services.
