Amazon Verification for Dietary Supplements

Keep your supplement listings compliant and active on Amazon.

In 2024, Amazon updated its Dietary Supplements Policy, requiring annual third-party verification for all supplements. Sellers must now demonstrate that products are manufactured in U.S. FDA cGMP-compliant facilities, free from contaminants and undeclared pharmaceuticals, and accurately labeled with no misleading claims.

We provide seamless Amazon verification to ensure your supplements meet these requirements and stay listed. Our GMP-accredited laboratories and regulatory experts make compliance simple, from testing and certification.

FAQs

Amazon requires specific dietary supplements to be tested and certified by an approved third-party testing, inspection and certification provider such as SGS. This ensures your product:

  • Meets U.S. FDA current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)
  • Contains the ingredients listed on your label, in the stated amounts
  • Is free from harmful contaminants or undeclared active pharmaceuticals
  • Complies with Amazon’s labeling and claims policies

Each product must be verified annually for every ASIN.

If you have received a compliance request in your Amazon Manage Your Compliance (MYC) dashboard, those ASINs must be verified.

Common product categories that require verification include:

  • Weight management products
  • Sports nutrition and muscle-building products
  • Sexual enhancement products
  • Certain botanical or herbal supplements
  1. Log in to your Amazon Seller Central account
  2. Open your Manage Your Compliance dashboard
  3. Select SGS as your service provider

We will then contact you with next steps and request:

  • Product label files (outer and inner packaging)
  • GMP certification from your manufacturing facility
  • Product specifications or a Certificate of Analysis (CoA)
  • Product samples for testing

Testing depends on your product type but typically includes:

  • Identity and potency: verifying that labeled ingredients are present at claimed amounts
  • Contaminants: screening for heavy metals and microbials
  • Adulterants: screening for undeclared active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs)
  • Label review: confirming your label meets Amazon’s requirements

The required quantity depends on serving size, active ingredients and the number of tests. We confirm exact sample quantities after reviewing your label and claims.

Most products are verified within two to four weeks of sample receipt, depending on complexity. Once testing and review are complete, we upload the results directly to Amazon.

When your product meets all requirements, we submit your Certificate of Analysis (CoA) and supporting documentation directly to Amazon through the MYC portal. Amazon then updates your listing status, typically within 24-48 hours.

If your product does not meet requirements, we provide a detailed report outlining the non-compliance issues. You can then work with your manufacturer to address the findings and resubmit for verification.

Verification is required annually for each ASIN or sooner if your product’s formulation, label or manufacturing site changes.
