China Publishes Amendments to GB 6675.2, GB 6675.11 and GB 19865

On July 13, 2022, China’s State Administration for Market Regulation published Announcement (No. 9 of 2022) approving amendments to three mandatory standards.

According to Announcement (No. 9 of 2022), published by China’s State Administration for Market Regulation amendments for GB 6675.2 and GB 19865 are effective immediately, as of the date of announcement on July 13, 2022. Implementation of the amendment to GB 6675.11 will have a transitional period, until February 1, 2023.

The following table summarizes the amendments and their implementation dates.

Amendment 1 of GB 6675.2:2014 – Mechanical and physical properties
  • Projectile toys – the requirements of the tip radius, kinetic energy and sharp point/edge do not apply to projectiles where the maximum range of the discharged projectile is 300 mm or less
  • Projectile toys for children 36 months and up – the requirement for small parts does not apply to projectiles where the maximum range of the discharged projectile is 100 mm or less
  • Added exemptions to the small part requirement for projectile toys:
    1. Small parts that are released after reasonably foreseeable abuse testing that cannot be discharged, or are unable to travel a distance greater than 100 mm
    2. Small parts of foam that are released from projectiles whose shafts are completely made of foam
  • Added a new test to determine the projectile range
  • Correction of figures and table

Amendment 1 of GB 6675.11:2014 – Swings, slides and similar activity toys for indoor and outdoor family domestic use
  • Revised the requirement for minimum clearance between swing elements and the ground, in order to align with ISO 8124-4:2014/Amd.2:2019
  • Correction of figure

Amendment 1 of GB 19865:2005 – Electric toys – Safety
  • Added exemptions to DC symbol marking and instructions for toys supplied with a battery box
  • Added exemption to the short-circuit test. The test is not applied to battery compartments where access is only possible by removing covers that can only be removed with the aid of a tool or by two independent movements applied simultaneously
