In April 1972, during the 1st International Symposium of the Association of Medical Advisors in the Pharmaceutical Industry (AMAPI) in London, England, a group of doctors from the German pharmaceutical industry came together to found a year later the “Fachgesellschaft der Ärzte in der pharmazeutischen Industrie e.V.” (FÄPI, Professional society of physicians in the pharmaceutical industry), the first German similar organization to the AMAPI.
Almost 50 years later and after the name changed to “Deutsche Gesellschaft für Pharmazeutische Medizin e.V.” (DGPharMed German society for Pharmaceutical Medicine) in 1996 we come together this year to celebrate the 38th annual congress with the headline "Drug and medical device development: The regulatory world – still challenged by the real world?"
