As a member of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures Forum, we are helping global financial flows to achieve nature-positive outcomes.
We are delighted to be contributing to the work and mission of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) as a member of the TNFD Forum. As a member of the forum, we are helping global financial flows to achieve nature-positive outcomes in a world of evolving nature-related risk.
The TNFD Forum is a global and multi-disciplinary consultative group of institutional supporters. As a member of the forum, we can offer our technical expertise and practical market experience to help the TNFD build and develop a risk management and disclosure framework.
Simon Colton, Sustainable Solutions – Business Development Director at SGS, said: "SGS has more than 30 years of experience in sustainability in all major industries, including the financial and public sector. As a member of the TNFD Forum, we are keen to work with financial institutions, corporates and market service providers in the task force to address nature-related financial risks.
"As a leader in sustainability assurance, SGS will actively engage in the forum through specific research activities, industry pilots, surveys and relevant initiatives. We share the same goals with other members, including financial institutions, regulators, pension funds and academic institutions, by contributing to an integrated risk management and disclosure framework that is consistent and practical."
We are already supporters of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), a similar initiative of the Financial Stability Board (FSB) to provide guidelines on how to evaluate climate change impacts on financial performance.
Our sustainability experts have already actively contributed to developing international standards, frameworks, schemes and regulations, such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), UN Principles for Responsible Banking (PRB) Assurance and EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).
Our Sustainability Assurance Solutions effectively validate and report organizations' nature-related information. They not only support our clients' sustainability journeys, but also enrich and diversify our contribution to the TNFD Forum.
The TNFD is an international cross-sector initiative. It is a market-led initiative, funded by government and philanthropic partners and backed by G7 and G20 political leaders. The TNFD is operated under the legal authority of the Green Finance Institute in the UK, which provides secretariat hosting support to the TNFD initiative.
