First Verification Issued for BlueSky AI-Based Forest Carbon Sink Methodology

April 29, 2026

A new development in forest carbon monitoring has been formalized through the first independent verification of the BlueSky AI Multimodal Satellite Remote Sensing Forest Carbon Sink Methodology. We issued the verification during the Forum on Forest Carbon Accreditation & Assessment (FFCAA) at Wuhan University, marking a step toward more structured and reliable carbon accounting frameworks.

Verified against international standards, the methodology integrates satellite remote sensing, artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain, providing a robust framework to support forest carbon sink monitoring, accounting and ownership registration.

Advancing precision in carbon monitoring

As carbon markets evolve toward sovereign-level trading under Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement, the need for consistent and verifiable data is increasing. Industry experts highlighted a transition from estimation-based approaches to precision measurement enabled by advanced technologies such as AI and aerospace remote sensing.

This shift reflects broader market expectations for measurable, verifiable and comparable carbon data, supporting more robust participation in global carbon trading systems.

Supporting credible carbon credit generation

Verification of methodologies provides the foundation for generating carbon credits that meet international expectations. By confirming the scientific basis of this approach, we contribute to improving transparency and comparability across markets, supporting the role of high-quality credits in cross-border transactions.

Tracy Li, Deputy Director of Business Assurance at SGS China, said: “This verification confirms the scientific rigor of the BlueSky technical path and demonstrates the potential of digital tools to strengthen trust in carbon credits. By providing a transparent and verifiable standard, we support the use of high-quality credits across international carbon markets.”

Industry participants at the forum emphasized that carbon credit quality depends on the integration of rules, technology and international alignment. Authenticity, verifiability and tradability remain central to enabling carbon assets to achieve global recognition and pricing.

Expanding digital carbon infrastructure globally

The forum also introduced a global forest carbon registration platform designed to support ownership tracking and traceability. Alongside this, a subscription initiative for forest carbon assets was launched across regions including Africa, Southeast Asia and South America, reflecting the growing scale and international scope of carbon market participation.

Deng Jiangying, Chairwoman of BlueSky Carbon Assets, stated that the initiative combines “Chinese technology, international certification and global assets” to support the transformation of ecological value into cross-border digital carbon assets.

These developments illustrate how digital systems and verified methodologies can support the transformation of environmental value into structured, tradable carbon assets within global markets.
