Minerals Detection

SGS’s minerals detection services help you to determine feed rations and the level of supplements needed.

We also provide you with an opportunity to detect minerals that could harm your livestock, preventing health problems and all of the associated costs.

Our minerals detection methods are both accurate and flexible, giving you peace of mind and a range of choices. Using an inductively coupled plasma (ICP) spectrometer, we can identify 16 different minerals – each with its own purpose or potential impact. This not only reveals how certain minerals may affect feed rations, but also helps you determine the type and value of the necessary mineral supplements (e.g. phosphorus, calcium). It also allows you to monitor – and eliminate, or otherwise control – any minerals (such as lead and sulfur) that would be harmful to animals.

Approved and accredited laboratories

To maintain our reputation for independence, integrity and innovation, our minerals detection laboratories operate under strict guidelines and are accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 9001:2008. Staffed by scientists and technicians with years of laboratory experience – as well as degrees in chemistry, microbiology and agronomy – our labs have also earned the approval of several feed associations. In addition, numerous analytical associations often reference the results we produce – ensuring that our mineral detection services adhere to both the highest industry standards and those set by a global governing body.

To be sure you have the correct minerals, at the right concentration levels, within your animal feed, contact SGS now to ask about our minerals detection services.
