These services are available to the customer either as a one-time only consulting project or as a regular review and continuous LEAN-type improvement exercise. The technologies and availability of new equipment is such that regular review is an essential part of best practice.
Analysis review and comment
To help our clients deal with the large variety of standards and norms in use in various contracts and the different physical installations in use for sampling, we have developed a range of calibration, validation and troubleshooting services for LNG analysis. These services address both the common methodologies published by GPA, ISO and similar, as well as those developed in-house, set by national regulatory bodies or specific to certain contracts.
Analyzer maintenance
SGS has extensive experience in monitoring, auditing and maintaining online analyzers to optimize performance and maintain process integrity. This information is invaluable when directly measuring the parameters used to determine hydrocarbon valuation and the custody transfer quantities of product.
In support of our monitoring activities, we can also perform routine maintenance, calibration and repair of online gas chromatographs.
Online sampling verification
Most allocation and quality disputes arise from disagreements over the accuracy and reliability of the sampling method(s) used at a particular stage of the logistics chain. Given the rapid expansion on LNG at a global scale and the variety of hardware, software and contractual clauses in use, such disputes are becoming increasingly common. With spot cargoes becoming more common, these disputes will themselves increase in frequency. SGS offers a variety of services to our partners, including design consultancy, operational audits, technical review and on-site validation exercises of sample loops and sampling regimes.
