Introduction to REACH

This training is designed to familiarize you with the purpose and requirements of the REACH EEA Regulation.

REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorization of Chemicals) impacts all manufacturers, importers and downstream users of chemicals in the EEA. It divides industry into various segments, substances and mixtures on the one hand and articles on the other. Substances and mixtures are further divided by CAS and EINECS number and by interaction with life and the environment (the high impact ones being Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC).

The training provides an overview of the remit of REACH and the increased responsibility it places on industry to manage chemical risks. We introduce you to the aims and core principles of REACH: protection of human health and the environment; enhance EU chemical industry competitiveness; and the promotion of alternative methods of dangerous substance assessment.

The training is available as a series of one-day introductory REACH training sessions. We can also arrange “in-house” sessions, customized to your obligations and roles under the regulation, addressing key industry or supply chain specific issues.

On completion of this training you will be able to:

  • Understand the assessment, implications, documentation and registration processes of REACH
  • Understand the authorization process and the restrictions and responsibilities of all those involved in the supply chains impacted by the regulation
  • Understand the responsibility of those supplying articles, in particular regarding those working with Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC)
  • Understand the responsibility of communication through the supply chain
