Hazardous Substance Control Workshop

SGS’s hazardous substance control (HSC) workshop for textile and leather factory professionals – taking a positive step forward on enhancing chemical management in your supply chain.

Implementing industry best practices at every critical stage of textile and garment production (such as dyeing & printing, washing, and finishing), as well as leather production, can mitigate the majority of hazardous substance problems otherwise encountered by the supply chain. Ensuring the implementation of an effective chemical management system within the factory and the wider supply chain will support the industry in moving one step towards the Zero Discharge goal and making continuous improvement on RSL/MRSL compliance.

Course outline & features

This advanced and interactive workshop uses the chemical flow management (CFM) as the core concept and has been devised for professionals who manage chemical issues at factories. The HSC workshop, delivered on a modular basis, is process specific. This allows participants to enhance their technical competence in chemical management, risk assessments and traceability relevant to their manufacturing and factory setup.

In each module, the workshop covers key chemical management aspects of that particular manufacturing process including input, in-process and output. We expose participants to the latest industry best practices, brought together by global experts. We also encourage them to share experiences with their industry peers so that individual suppliers can improve their technical competence. As a result, the entire supply chain can play a meaningful role in making positive, qualitative changes to drive progress towards the zero discharge goal.

CFM toolkit

Participants will receive, and learn how to use, the practical and user-friendly CFM toolkit. Designed by SGS, the toolkit will enable those working in chemical compliance to discover and identify inherent risks before and during production, then conduct effective risk assessments, thus minimizing overall risk. The toolkit is invaluable for tracking, recording and taking measures on chemical use, making chemical management more transparent than ever before.
