SGS proudly announces the successful delivery of a comprehensive technical report for Wind Resource Assessment (WRA) and Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) siting for a landmark 200 MW hybrid solar-wind project developed by a leading power company in Pakistan.
This milestone marks a significant step forward in Pakistan’s renewable energy landscape and highlights SGS’s expertise in delivering end-to-end consulting, advanced resource analytics, and hybrid system design for utility-scale projects.
Project Overview
The project involved a detailed WRA and WTG siting for a hybrid plant combining 115.5 MW wind and 88 MW solar capacities. Key achievements include:
- Integration of high-quality MET mast data from three locations using MEASNET-calibrated sensors
- Application of IEC 61400-12-1 compliant measurement protocols
- Long-term wind analysis using ERA5-based MCP correlation, achieving a correlation coefficient > 0.9
- Use of advanced WindPro modeling for layout optimization
Turbine Layout Optimization
SGS designed the technical layout of 15 Windey WD200-7700 turbines (7.7 MW each), with a strategic focus on minimizing wake losses to only 4.3% and ensuring full compliance with RFP benchmarks.
The proposed layout is projected to deliver a P50 annual energy yield of 636 GWh, combining solar and wind performance in a seamless hybrid configuration.
