Fuel retail market in Saudi Arabia has been growing in the past 5 years and yet to grow more. The regulations set by the government for the gas stations and associated services had opened the appetite of investors and retailers from outside the country.
To help market players take full advantage of the emerging opportunities, SGS organized a fuel retail event took place at InterContinental hotel Riyadh on 14 February 2023.
Over 60 participants attended the session including representatives from SASO (Saudi Arabian Standardization Organization), Saudi Aramco, The Saudi Power Company, the Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy, the Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Commerce, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority as well as from local private Fuel Retail & Marketing companies.
The agenda included a wide range of topics including:
- Fuel quality program, by Abdrab Alameer Alsaqt, SASO Consultant
- Fuel quality & HSE Solutions dedicated to Fuel Retailers, by Cherif Belhaj Ali, SGS Tunisia
- Underground tanks calibration, leak detection and tanks cleaning using 3D laser technology, by Burak Kalkan, SGS Turkey
- Electronic sealing and fleet monitoring using SGS OMNIS, by Michael Knox, SGS Switzerland
Our objective was to share best practices aiming at improving safety, quality and reliability of fuel stations. We are pleased to have such an overwhelming response from all the participants who showed keen interest during the event.
