SGS to Provide Product Conformity Assessment Services to the Kingdom of Morocco

On March 24th, 2021, SGS signed a contract with the Ministry of Industry, Trade, Green and Digital Economy (MICEVN) of the Kingdom of Morocco for the implementation of the Conformity Assessment Program on industrial products, starting May 1, 2021.

Under the contract, SGS acting on behalf of MICEVN, will perform conformity assessment services for exporters of industrial products to the Kingdom of Morocco to verify that those products meet relevant national standards and/or technical regulations. Only products that meet the Moroccan standards and/or technical regulations will be issued a certificate of conformity at the country of origin. The exporter will release the certificate of conformity to his importer or its local agent. Upon arrival of the goods, the certificate of conformity issued by SGS at the country of origin will be authenticated by SGS Morocco at the Ministry portal.

Products intended for destination intervention upon arrival (no inspection at origin) will undergo the conformity assessment process at destination; the intervention level will be defined by the Ministry.

The following non-exhaustive lists contain product groups to be included in the program for intervention at origin.

Products subject to control before shipment:

  1. Electrical appliances
  2. Other electrical products
  3. Construction materials (pipes, sheets, sanitary equipment, insulation, wooden panels, cement, windows, glass...)
  4. Gas/oil appliances
  5. Toys, parks and baskets for children, baby diapers, furniture
  6. Textiles, shoes, leather, clothing
  7. Chemical products (detergents, paint, bitumen, matches, lighters...)
  8. Plastic products
  9. Products in contact with food (kitchenware, crockery...)
  10. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), helmets for motorcycles
  11. Automotive spare parts (tyres, automotive parts)

Products subject to intervention at destination:

  1. Vehicles tyres (cars and trailers)
  2. Automotive batteries
  3. Brake linings (brake pads)
  4. Safety glazing for cars
  5. Filter elements (filters)
  6. Mechanical control cable
  7. Ceramic tiles
  8. Cement
  9. Sealing sheets
  10. Sanitary products (sanitary fittings, shower hoses, enameled ceramic sanitary ware)
  11. Sanitary fittings
  12. Plastic tubes
  13. Wood panels
  14. Gas heaters
  15. Gas water heaters
  16. Wire rod
  17. Concrete iron
  18. Articles of clothing – other than work clothing
  19. Battery chargers
  20. Circuit breakers
  21. Blankets
  22. Carpets and rugs
  23. Home furnishing
  24. Layers babies
