SGS Certifies Museum of Cycladic Art for Cleaning and Disinfection Procedures Against COVID-19

October 19, 2020

SGS is pleased to have worked with the Museum of Cycladic Art in Athens, Greece, to validate the effectiveness of their cleaning and disinfection procedures so they are able to safely welcome back visitors to the museum.

The museum was founded in 1986 and it is dedicated to the study and promotion of ancient cultures of the Aegean and Cyprus, with special emphasis on Cycladic art of the 3rd millennium B.C.

Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the museum had to carefully consider its safety and hygiene protocols. They turned to SGS to help devise and implement a cleaning program that would validate the effectiveness of their cleaning and disinfection procedures, including against COVID-19.

The SGS Disinfection Monitored service particularly applies to organizations like the museum, whose activities result in the congregation of large numbers of people and contains, potentially, many touch points. The program was implemented in all spaces at the museum for maximum security, including the exhibitions, offices, educational programs, shop, café, and entrances.

Mrs. Evgenia Christodoulakou, Executive Director of the Museum of Cycladic Art said: "At this difficult juncture, the SGS Disinfection Monitored service enables us to ensure the safety of our visitors, customers and employees, as this validates the effectiveness and correctness of all the cleaning and disinfection procedures we apply. All our sites are now certified, providing security to those who visit us; from the children who attend our programs to the companies that choose us for their event. We would like to thank SGS for allowing us to continue our work and activity seamlessly with this service."

Mr. Alexander Michail, Managing Director of SGS Greece remarked, "In the circumstances of the unprecedented pandemic, our goal is to make people feel safe. At SGS we use the know-how and reliability of 150 years’ experience and have developed a package of services to help organizations cope with the demanding new conditions – safely and efficiently. We are very happy about the collaboration with the Museum of Cycladic Art, and we are convinced that ensuring the right procedures will contribute to the safe operation of both the museum itself and cultural life."
