Three Phases

Organizations evolve through three phases in the quest for the results that Six Sigma can deliver:

  1. Exploration phase
  2. Execution phase
  3. Sustainment phase

In each phase SGS serves and an independent expert advisor to help you plan, implement and manage a Six Sigma programme that culminates in your ability to continuously garner tangible increases in revenue, margins and capital utilization.

In each phase the application of the Six Sigma Standard© and SGS audits ensures that both new and existing Six Sigma programs are able to achieve results both initially as well as in the long term.

1. EXPLORATION PHASE
You're trying to figure out what Six Sigma is and how it can be applied to your business. Seemingly, the only sources of information are dozens of different consultancies each pitching their own diverse methods. Decisions made in this critical phase will set the trajectory for your entire deployment. Make some decisions correctly and you're chances of success are good, make some decisions poorly and the ramifications can be nearly incalculable. SGS will ensure that your senior team gains an understanding and appreciation of the Six Sigma methodology. You will learn not only about the capabilities of Six Sigma but also its limitations so that your expectations are realistic. In the process you will become a more informed consumer of Six Sigma services. As you move forward SGS will assist you in making decisions which are in your own best interest. Whether that means introducing you to the right consultants or service providers or screening your team or external applicants for talent, SGS serves as your guiding hand in this most important phase.

2. EXECUTION PHASE
SGS will work in close collaboration with your team and chosen consultancy to draft a detailed Deployment Plan. The plan will be uniquely customised to your needs yet also aligned with the globally recognized Six Sigma Standard. In doing so you will be assured that your plan includes the elements and best practices from virtually all of the world class Six Sigma programmes. With a comprehensive plan now in place you can begin the Execution Phase in earnest. Our experienced Six Sigma auditors will periodically independently audit the execution of both your organisation and the consultancy in terms of your conformance to the Standard. Your ability to leverage and adhere to the requirements of the Standard will ensure that the deployment meets with initial success.

A feat few of your Six Sigma predecessors can claim as over 70% of them will have had multiple generations of costly trial and error before getting it right, if ever.

3. SUSTAINMENT PHASE
As the consultancy completes the transfer of Six Sigma knowledge to your organisation you will be ready to continue independently with your Six Sigma programme. This independence does not mean you are alone. SGS will continue to periodically audit your programme and provide you with actionable feedback on your performance. For companies whose programmes meet the qualification criteria SGS issues a Six Sigma Programme Certification. This level of recognition is powerful evidence of not only your programme's performance and status among the best in the world but it is also a powerful indicator of the overall wellbeing of your company. This prestigious certificate is awarded only to companies whose programmes demonstrate appropriate use of the Six Sigma tools which produce tangible contributions to the company in the form of increased revenues, margins and capital utilisation. The possession of an SGS Six Sigma Programme Certificate provides the financial market more transparent data about the impact of your programme on these key value drivers. It states that your programme has, is and will continue to deliver the kind of results that are expected by your customers, shareholders and all internal or external stakeholders. After certification SGS will continue to periodically conduct independent surveillance audits and annual recertification audits to ensure that you maintain the necessary infrastructure and procedures to sustain those results.
