Italy - 13/03/07SGS: The First Company in the World to Certify a Seven Star HotelSGS, the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company, has created a new voluntary hotel classification criterion called “SGS 7 stars”. This certification service is designed to identify the extra luxurious services offered by the applicant hotel. On 15th December, in Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, Milan, Town House Galleria, the first hotel in the world to request the “SGS 7 stars” certification , will be officially presented to the world. SGS, as the leader in the certification industry, has identified a list of criteria that must be met by all the structures that aspire to this recognition, in the belief that they possess superior features and services than those commonly attributed to the highest official classification. Following validation by an international technical committee (external to the certification body), these features will be checked directly by SGS, who will certify their conformity, and check that they are maintained in the future through scheduled inspections and, first and foremost, through “Mystery Guest” visits. These features include services provided by the hotel, from guest’s arrival at the airport to his departure, luxurious services that will satisfy a particularly demanding clientele looking for a home-like stay. Customisation, discretion and luxury are the main characteristics required to hotels that aspire to becoming 7-star facilities. A chauffeur who collects the guest from the airport with a luxury car playing his or her favourite music during the transfer; check in directly in his suite where his luggage awaits and a private butler for every superior suite. Additionally, the hotel structure should be of great artistic and historical design, it should be located in a prestigious and unique position. It should offer a full range of amenities: such as exclusive furniture, flat screen, satellite TV, PC, cordless telephone, fridge, a selection of the best wines and liquors, and tailor-made slippers and bathrobe. Nothing should be left to chance in a seven star facility. According to SGS standards, the client’s needs must be met professionally and promptly. The hotel should be able to cater for special breakfast requirements; offer the possibility to choose between 4 different types of international cuisine and provide an internal restaurant that only serves fresh products and has a wine list featuring the best national and international wines. It should also provide a dedicated house keeping, ironing and shoe shining service. It should also not forget its younger guests; providing them with video games and consoles, a selection DVDs and tailor-made slippers and bathrobes. Moreover, it should provide inclusive or subsidised services such as a spa, swimming pool, babysitting, wellness centre, personal trainer, luxury chauffeur and tickets for the main events in town, as well as shopping assistance, guaranteeing access to the main luxury boutiques out of hours, subject to appointment. With over 125 years of expertise and its high experience in the tourist sector with other European and world hotel chains, SGS is able to offer this unique certification services. “A new classification of excellence, which will revolutionise the world hotel system,” commented Duilio Giacomelli, Managing Director SGS Italy and Chief Operating Officer South East Europe. “This classification will help the hotel sector to grow, especially the luxury segment, which now has the possibility to certify its excellence and obtain international recognition thanks to SGS”.
