The recent purchase of Aquatic Health by SGS is a new contribution to strengthen the supportive mission sponsored by our Company vis a vis the Chilean exporting sector

Following with its constant supportive policy vis a vis the Chilean Exporting sector, SGS is pleased to announce his recent purchase of Aquatic Health, a private company focused on the rendering of services for medical analysis, outsourcing and quality certification for all the value chain related to salmon producing sector.

Founded in 1995 by the entrepreneur and veterinary Mr. Oscar Gárate and Claudia Claudia Silva, which nowadays counts with a staff of 81 employees seated in modern facilities and laboratory premises located in the southern part of our countries at the cities of Puerto Varas, Castro and Coyhaique, plus an experimental field unit devoted ocean ranging (salmon).

•It is important to point out that Aquatic Health has a vast experience and renowned prestige and a leading company in the salmon market.  In addition to the first-class relationship and contact made with the salmon industry one can also highlight a proven quality of service based and supported by their first rate and modern installation premises.

With the acquisition of Aquatic Health SGS will consolidate its presence in a strategic area of local economy, as Chile stands worldwide today as the second salmon producer and therefore plays a significant role in the aquiculture field.  Note that since 1991 the exports have experienced a sustained increase from nil to 1.3 billions of dollars in 2004.

SGS will continue with his policy of new acquisitions oriented and designed to further expand the service delivery by SGS to the different productive areas so as to supply the necessary synergy to favour the delivery of global solutions.  Thus, the improvement of the services of the aquiculture sector will be added to other initiatives.
