The National Technical Committee on Garments of the Standardization Administration of China has recently revised the national standard GB/T 2662-2008 and it is now GB/T 2662-2017 . The revised standard will be implemented on December 1, 2017.

SGS CRS SafeGuardS woven cloth

According to the announcement of newly approved national standards of P. R. China (No.11 announcement, 2017), the updated edition GB/T 2662-2017 <Clothes with fillings> will be implemented on December 1, 2017. This standard has been revised by the National Technical Committee on Garments of Standardization Administration of China.

Scope

This standard is applicable to mass produced clothes with fillings which are mainly made of textile woven fabrics. Fillings may be made of natural fibers, chemical fibers or a blend of these materials as fillings or have animal fur and artificial fur as linings/detachable linings. This standard is not applicable to products with down and feather fillings or to infant’s (not older than 36 months) garments.

Main Technical Changes

The following sections <GB/T 2662-2017> have been revised from the  <GB/T 2662-2008> version:   the applicable scope of the standard, the normative references, the instruction for use, the information about auxiliary material, the information about appearance defects, the sewing rules, the ironing rules, the requirements for physical and chemical items, the information for the inspected and classified of finished products, the information for appearance quality defects for finished products and the inspection and determination rules for finished products.

<GB/T 2662-2017> added the provisions for clothes with fillings for children (36 months~14 years old) shall comply with the requirements of GB 31701”, the testing methods for finished products and the test method for the safety performance of children’s clothing.

Annex A <Test methods for seam slippage> and Annex B <Sample sketch for the seam strength of trouser back rise> were deleted from the revised standard <GB/T 2662-2017>.

Physical and Chemical Property Tests

The following tests are listed in the revised standard: Fiber content, Formaldehyde content, pH value, Banned azo colourants, Odor, Dimensional change after washing, Dimensional change after dry cleaning, Colorfastness for shell (Washing, Dry cleaning, Water, Perspiration, Rubbing, Light, Transfer in joints ), Colorfastness for lining (Washing, Dry rubbing, Water, Perspiration), Seam strength of trouser back rise, Seam slippage, Peel strength value for garments with adhesive interlining, Pilling property for shell, Appearance after washing and/or dry cleaning.
