In March 2013, a world-class construction and infrastructure enterprise awarded SGS a three-year contract for inspection and testing during the manufacture of “Boiler-Turbine-Generator” PKG of two 660MW coal-based super critical thermal power plants. The power plant will be located in India - in the Nellore District of Andhra Pradesh. SGS will conduct inspection and testing at various manufacturing units in China, as well as at related subsidiaries and ancillaries. The contract is expected to last 36 months.

SGS was specifically selected for this project based on its excellent track record in technical capabilities, deep understanding of super critical aspects and good knowledge of Indian Boiler Regulations (IBR) requirements. Furthermore, extensive experience and expert-level competence in inspection and testing during manufacturing of critical equipment clearly distinguished SGS from its competitors.

SGS Inspection & Testing

In order to assure quality and protect project integrity, products, machinery and equipment must all be manufactured in compliance with a range of statutory and contractual obligations. SGS provides both inspections and testing to verify  that products are manufactured in full compliance with all specified requirements. In this project, all manufactured products, components, machinery and equipment intended for use in boilers, turbines and generators at this power plant will be inspected and tested in accordance with International Standards, relevant regulations & IBR.
