International brands who are exporting textile products to Japan will now be able to enjoy more convenient and seamless testing services in ASEAN countries thanks to the closer partnership between SGS and the Japanese testing and inspection organization, BOKEN Quality Evaluation Institute (BQE).

Starting in March 2012, BOKEN’s ninth overseas centre, which is located within the SGS laboratory in Jakarta, Indonesia, will be opened for services. Combining and leveraging BOKEN and SGS global technical expertise in the textile and garment industry, a range of physical and chemical testing services will be offered to our valuable clients.

The new partnership in Jakarta will support and enhance the regional growth of the textile and garment industry, making it more convenient for brands to source from Indonesia and other ASEAN countries as part of the increasingly popular “China Plus One” sourcing model.

Since 1989, BOKEN and SGS have been in close business partnership and this latest establishment of the Jakarta regional hub will be an addition to the current BOKEN overseas representatives at SGS in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Guangzhou and Hangzhou. Through these projects, SGS and BOKEN have built a “trusted relationship” with each other, according to Mr. Hayato Horiba, BOKEN’s President, and will continue to serve the textile and garment industry with premium and high-quality services.

BOKEN Quality Evaluation Institute (BQE), formerly named as The Japan Spinners Inspecting Foundation, was established in 1948 to promote the export of textile products and improvements in quality. BOKEN is Japan’s leading general testing and inspection organization, a neutral and fair organization that conducts inspections, testing and research with a focus on textiles.
