Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD) has established itself as a widely used tool for the flaw detection in welds and is the most accurate and effective Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) technique in determining a defect height. This unique ultrasonic method offers significant advantages in the speed and detection of defects and combines a high detection rate with extremely good reliability for both pre-service and in-service inspections.

In response to the growing demand for Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD) training and the huge success of previous courses, the SGS NDT Training and Examination Center in Shanghai, China provides regular training courses for TOFD.

The next TOFD Level 2 training course is scheduled for November 21 – December 1, 2011 in Shanghai, China. At the end of the course on December 2-3, an optional examination in compliance with EN473 and SNT-TC-1A will be offered.

The TOFD training course will be held in English and Chinese simultaneously by highly experienced European tutors. Organized by the SGS NDT Training and Examination Center on a regular basis, the TOFD courses are accredited by the British Institute of NDT (BINDT) and in accordance with internationally recognized European and American standards.

TOFD Training Course Details

Throughout the training course, participants will be provided with basic and advanced theories on TOFD applications and will learn about this NDT testing method in practice, including preparing and performing an inspection and carrying out the data interpretation.

The total fee for the TOFD training course is USD 3,000 per person, and this includes training, examination fees, textbooks, and lunches, as well as the PCN certification cost. Hotel accommodations and meals are available for around USD 40 per day. Additionally, candidates can rely on SGS's support in providing letters of invitation for visas, hotel bookings, and arranging transportation to and from the hotel.
