SGS Involved In 7 New Offshore Wind Farm Projects
Certification of onshore and offshore wind farms and wind turbine projects in general continues to grow as a SGS Global Service Line. Consequently, the SGS Wind Energy Global Competence Centre located in Hamburg and the SGS Global Wind Energy Network is currently significantly expanding its staff with new technical wind energy experts and inspectors.
SGS Global Wind Energy is a part of the SGS Renewable Global Division, which is also offering global certification, testing and inspection services for the Solar Energy and Biomass markets. SGS Renewable Energy is headed by Dr. Jan Behrendt Ibsø. The contracts now signed cover project certification and technical risk assessment for e.g. the following offshore wind farm projects: Gode Wind II Kriegers Flak Alpha Ventus Borkum West Baltic I Q7.
In addition, SGS is currently involved in several both onshore and offshore wind farm projects offering an integrated asset integrity conditioning monitoring inspection service package for wind turbines and wind farms in operation. This service package includes e.g. risk based inspection condition monitoring for wind turbine Blades and wind turbine Gear Boxes.
