SGS announces today the acquisition of Northview Biosciences Inc, Northbrook Illinois, USA.
Northview Biosciences founded in 1972, is a leading independent laboratory offering comprehensive testing capabilities in analytical chemistry, microbiology and sterility assurance, and serves a full range of clients in the pharmaceutical, medical device, and biotechnology industries.
This acquisition comprises two laboratories in Northbrook, Illinois and Spartanburg, South Carolina, but does not include the animal science facility in Hercules, California, which will be reorganized by the owner as a specialty company.
The acquired entities employ approximately 100 employees and generate in excess of USD 10 million in revenues.
With this acquisition, SGS takes a further important step towards its recently announced strategic growth plan by establishing a strong presence in the North American market and becoming a leading service provider in the area of quality control testing to the life science industry. Northview Biosciences provides enhanced geographic coverage in the USA, complements the already existing customer base and adds testing expertise for the medical devise industry.
Together with its life science laboratories in Fairfield, NJ, USA and Mississauga, Ont, Canada, SGS will be among the top five players in North America for GMP/GLP-compliant testing, and represents the largest laboratory network for GMP/GLP-compliant quality control testing for the pharmaceutical industry globally.
