Packaging was one of the first targets when organizations started to address the sustainability of products. Though a lot of focus has recently been placed on addressing the impacts of product supply chains and product life after purchase, packaging still remains a topic of interest and sustainability improvement efforts.

SGS will discuss trends for environmentally preferable packaging as observed in the US and European markets, from experience with clients, conferences and general research. SGS will share information regarding:

  •  News about the upcoming LCA regulatory approaches in the EU (EU commission, France)
  • Qualitative approaches to assess product environmental aspects, and environmental claims
  • The effects that environmental regulations in the EU and the new Federal Trade Commission guidance in the US have on packaging or communications about packaging will be touched upon.
