Pre-Shipment Inspection - Mexico

Mexico’s Secretaría de Comercio y Fomento Industrial (SECOFI) implements a pre-shipment inspection (PSI) regime to monitor incoming goods and protect the country’s import revenues.

SGS conducts PSIs on behalf of SECOFI. Our inspection includes a comprehensive inspection of the goods, invoices and other documentation to enable proper identification of goods prior to shipment with specific regard to:

• Quality
• Quantity
• Tariff classification
• Import eligibility
• Valuation information for Customs purposes

The PSI program enables the correct assessment of import duties and taxes, thereby protecting Mexico’s import revenues.
