SGS Indonesia Starts Field Trial Services
March 07, 2013
Since October 2012, SGS Indonesia’s Agri Division has continued the expansion of its business in Seed and Crop Services. To develop this market we have started in-field trial projects for bio-efficacy trials with experienced researchers, agronomists and field assistants.
To date SGS’s Agri division has executed an increasing number of bio-efficacy trials for some major agro chemical companies, for several crop targets.
Efficacy trials are being carried out in different locations, with chillies, potatoes and vegetables cultivated in the high lands, and in the low lands, paddy, corn and shallots. The high land crop trials are being carried out in Lembang, West Java, with the low land trials in Karawang, West Java and Brebes, Central Java. These locations were chosen because the field experiments can be carried out in areas surrounding the main crops planted and cultivated by local farmers.
We are preparing to expand the bio-efficacy trials for more and varied crop segments in respect of plantation crops, such as palm, rubber, cocoa and tobacco.
SGS Indonesia Agri Division is in the process of starting new field stations. These will be based in Karawang for low land crop trials and Lembang for high land crop trials and will be operational in June this year.
