SGS is pleased to announce the opening of a Biosafety Level 2 sample processing center in North America. The logistics platform opened in November 2012 at SGS’s Lincolnshire, IL facility outside of Chicago.

Providing North American clients with faster and easier access to biosafety analysis from SGS’s Centers of Excellence, the center will handle the biologic sample receiving, processing, and onward shipment of test items to:

  • Glasgow, Scotland for biosafety testing at SGS Vitrology
  • Other SGS laboratories in Europe for biopharmaceutical lab testing

With the acquisition of Vitrology in May 2012, SGS expanded its portfolio for biologics testing in cell bank and virus seeds characterization, raw material and bulk harvest testing (encompassing sterility, mycoplasma, viruses) and final product testing including residual DNA and host cell protein.
