Q: How can I learn about current open positions at SGS?
A: Open SGS positions are posted on the careers section (www.sgs.com/careers.htm) or on local SGS web sites. You will find many exciting opportunities.
Q: What if no open position matches my search criteria?
A: By creating an alert through the search agent, you will be informed every time a post matches your search criteria. You can also send speculative applications through the careers page.
Q: How secure and confidential is the information I provide during the online application process?
A: Information you provide during the online application is secure. You will be asked to sign a Data Privacy Statement. SGS commits to 100% confidentiality in the recruitment process.
Q: How long will my application be kept by SGS?
A: Through the online application process, you will be able to choose the duration of your application (from 3 months to 7 years).
Q: What happens after I have submitted my application online?
A: You will receive an e-mail notification acknowledging receipt of your application.
Q: How do I know if I have been invited to participate in the selection interviews?
A: Our recruitment team will carefully review your application. Should your qualifications and expertise be aligned with the requirements of the position, you will be directly contacted by an SGS recruiter to proceed further in the selection.
Q: What do I have to do to prepare for the interviews?
A: Try to learn as much as possible about the position and about SGS by reading about our business and culture on SGS.com. As we conduct structured interviews, we ask candidates to provide us with professional examples of past situations. Think about the skills that are required for the subject position and any past situation when you have used those skills.
Q: Will I have to go through assessments?
A: Depending of the level and complexity of the position, we may ask you to participate in a short psychometric study. We may also ask external consultants to conduct more thorough assessments. Should you be interested, we will provide feedback on those assessments, either directly or through our external consultants.
Q: What happens after the interviews are completed?
A: We conduct debriefing sessions to assess which candidate best fits the requirements of the post. Should your application be successful, you will receive an employment offer from SGS.
Q: If I am not chosen for a specific position, can I re-apply for another opening?
A: We select candidates based on the best fit for the skills and job requirements. If you are not selected for a specific position, your skills could be aligned with the requirements of another position. We therefore encourage you to apply to any position you feel qualified for and we will review your application carefully.
Q: Will I have to do something between receiving my job offer and my first day at SGS?
A: You are invited to review all the documents pertaining to your offer and complete as much of the administrative process as possible. We encourage you to continue learning about SGS and keep in contact with us until your first day in your new role.
