Dean and Stark Testing

The Dean and Stark test, or the determination and characterization of bitumen, mineral and water content of oil sand, petroleum products or other bituminous materials, is a key service provided by SGS. The data obtained through this test help identify potential by-products, plan for the optimum extraction process and establish the grade of your reserve - and future potential of your operation.

The industry standard Dean and Stark extraction method allows you to determine the bitumen, water and mineral weight percentage in oil sand, petroleum products and bituminous materials.
