Hydride Elements

Hydride elements (As, Bi, Se, Sb, Te, Hg) can be “pathfinder elements”, or elements closely associated with a metal of interest, usually gold. For example, high levels of arsenic or mercury can indicate that gold mineralization is close by.

Hydride elements are chemically difficult to analyze. They volatilize easily and turn to a gas readily. Thus, when samples are heated during digestion, these elements are often lost.

To address this problem, hydride elements are analyzed using special preparation or instrumentation techniques. SGS has the expertise to provide you with a range of methods for hydride element determination, depending on your needs.

Our specific hydride packages are specially formulated to provide reproducible, precise and accurate results.

Selenium Se 0.1ppm – 500ppm
Tellurium Te 0.1ppm – 500ppm

Multi-Acid (4 Acid) Digestions

HAS40B - Hydride Elements by Four-Acid Digestion / Hydride AAS Finish

ElementLimits
Selenium Se 0.2ppm – 1000ppm
Tellurium Te 0.5ppm – 1000ppm

Fusion Packages
