Korea - SGS Mandate

Product Conformity Assessment (PCA) services by SGS – enabling your organization to export goods to DPR Korea.

The Ministry of Foreign Trade (Korea Chamber of Commerce) of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea has appointed SGS to conduct product conformity assessment on all controlled goods entering the country, in accordance with Decree No. 4 of April 12, 2007.

Exporters need to apply for a Certificate of Conformity (CoC) before goods leave the country of export, to facilitate customs clearance on arrival in DPR Korea. The scope of the PCA is to verify quality and quantity, customs classification and country of origin.

Before we can compile a PCA report and issue a CoC exporters need to provide the SGS (GIS) office in the country of supply with the final invoice, bill of lading (or other transport documentation), packing list, certificate of origin and certificate of analysis.

Products which require a PCA:

• Un-denatured ethyl alcohol (80% or more), denatured ethyl alcohol and other denatured ethyl alcohol
• Un-denatured ethyl alcohol (80% or less), alcohol mixture for beverage products
• Acetic acid and its salts, acetic anhydride
• Acetic acid
• Acetic anhydride
• Saccharin
• Saccharin derivatives
• Noodles
• Ramyeon
• Antibiotic substances
• Pro vitamins, vitamins, derivatives and mixtures
• Vaccines for humans
• Vaccines for veterinary use
• Preventative medications
• Fish and crustaceans, mollusks and other aquatic invertebrates
• Preparations of meat, of fish, or of crustaceans, mollusks or other aquatic invertebrates
• Dairy produce
