HomeLife SciencesHealth, Beauty & WellnessCosmetics & Personal CareProduct Conformity Assessment (PCA)Egypt - SGS Mandate
SGS is approved by GEOIC and the Egyptian Accreditation Council (EGAC) as a third party inspecting company for this service. We can assess the conformity of non-food products against Egyptian, or international, standards as applicable.
Late in 2011, the Egyptian Ministry of Trade and Industry (MFTI) issued two ministerial decrees which require an inspection certificate for each shipment of textile and leather products imported into Egypt, as follows:
There are two certification schemes under this program:
Option 1 - Inspection per consignment
Every consignment is to be physically inspected at origin by an approved third party inspection company, before shipment and samples of the products must be analyzed in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory to demonstrate compliance with the Egyptian Standards. A Certificate of Inspection will be issued per consignment.
Option 2 - Registration with GOEIC
Importers (local agents, client representatives and retailers) may register with GOEIC, provided they meet the below described criteria:
Registration is valid for six months. To demonstrate compliance with points 4 and 5, a producer must submit a Certificate of Audit issued by a third party inspecting company approved by GOEIC such as SGS, as well as relevant testing reports. The Audit Certificate must be renewed every six months.
Under Option 2 shipments will have to obtain an Inspection Certificate from GOEIC directly upon the arrival of the goods, and cargoes will be subject to random inspection by GOEIC.
With decades of experience managing conformity assessment programs around the world we offer efficient and comprehensive solutions to speed your products’ route to market, ensure quality and safety and reduce potential losses.
