IATA Training

SGS offers specialized training courses in the transportation of dangerous goods by air, sea or road, including:

• IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (initial and refresher)
• IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (radioactive substances)
• ADR, ADN and IMDG awareness
• Airfreight security

IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations

The IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) for the air transport of dangerous goods prescribe training requirements for shippers, including packers, shipper’s agents and agencies which perform, on behalf of the operator, the act of accepting, handling, loading, unloading, transfer or other processing of cargo. 

Participants can sit the official examination at the end of the course. When a participant passes the examination, they obtain the IATA training certificate and their name is added to the IATA International Student Register. The training certificate is valid for two years and can be renewed by taking further refresher training within 24 months of the previous training. In the Netherlands, our training is licensed by the Ministry of Transport.

Radioactive (class 7) substances are covered in a separate training course.

Awareness training

Our awareness training is conducted in accordance with chapters 1.3 and 1.10 of the legislation (ADR, ADN, IMDG).

Security training

Security training is offered in accordance with Dutch legislation. In cooperation with a specialist training company, SGS offers the following training programmes:

• Beveiligings Adviseur Luchtvracht (BAL)
• Controleur Luchtvracht
• Medewerker Luchtvracht

All training courses are normally conducted in Dutch, but can also be delivered in English if required. Upon request, the training can also be organized in-house.
