EU Toy Directive Factory Audits and Inspections

The new EU toy safety Directive requires toy manufacturers to prove that they have taken all necessary actions to produce safe toys that comply and that this has been checked throughout the supply chain. SGS conducts toy directive factory audits and inspections to enable you to comply with this requirement of the new EU Toy Safety Directive.

Toy directive factory audits from SGS enable you to check that factories will be able to deliver your toys on time and with the correct technical documentation to comply with the new requirements. Our auditors can run the toy directive audit program (factory assessment, identification of the factory risk level, corrective actions) using our factory assessment check-list or we can create a check list with you to meet your specific needs.

SGS also offers the full range of inspection services for your toys throughout production (on-site inspection) and the supply chain: IPC, DUPRO, FRI, etc.

Toy social responsibility services from a trusted provider

It is also vital that your suppliers are assessed through social audits. SGS, with its worldwide presence and highly-skilled auditors is ideally placed to support your organization.

Our auditors check work conditions against the requirements of the international standard SA 8000 and of the International Labor Organization (ILO). We can help you and your suppliers maintain compliance with the requirements of the International Council of Toy Industries (ICTI) code of business conduct through a comprehensive auditing process.

Our social audit program consists of following key elements:

  • Child and young labor
  • Forced labor
  • Health and safety
  • Freedom of association
  • Discrimination
  • Disciplinary practices
  • Working hours
  • Compensation
  • Environment

The process of our audit involves an initial meeting, an on-site visit and interviews with employees, review of files and an end meeting.

Contact SGS to find out how you can be sure that you comply with the new EU Toy Safety Directive requirements.
