China Safety Testing - GB 18401

SGS performs tests according to China’s National General Safety Technical Code for Textile Products, also known as GB 18401. The code ensures product quality and safety and applies to apparel, decorative and home textiles, which are produced and sold in China market.

The textile products are classified into three categories:

  • Products for babies (e.g., nightgowns, bedding, bib, etc.)
  • Products with direct contact to skin (e.g., bra, shirt, socks, etc.)
  • Products without direct contact to skin (e.g., sweater, curtain, filling material, etc.)

If any product fails to meet the requirements of the code, it cannot be manufactured or sold within China.
