Supported by 29 of the world’s leading automotive manufacturers, the IMDS aims to help the industry cope with the increasing burden of regulatory compliance. IMDS was originally designed as a means of supporting the management of restricted substances, in compliance with European Commission Directive 2005/64/EC. This Directive added end-of-life vehicle (ELV) compliance as a requirement for European whole vehicle type approvals (WVTAs).
Thanks to our global network, our IMDS service consultants can meet your own staff – as well as employees of your supply chain partners – face-to-face, wherever you are. Based on years of industry experience, our experts can guide you through the maze of self-declaratory procedures that are supported by the database.
In addition, we host workshops and seminars – both public courses and in-house sessions – where we provide hand-on IMDS training from beginner to advanced level. These courses give your personnel the skills they need to ensure that your organization completes the requirements of the IMDS.
We are also able to perform data submissions on your behalf. Our tailored, outsourced solution takes care of this cumbersome and tedious process – leaving your valuable in-house resources free to focus on other matters. We can look after your company registration, provide supplier information and follow-up with quality checks, make data requests and monitor progress, and generate the Material Data Sheets (MDS) that the IMDS demands.
And by staying up-to-date on the latest regulatory changes, we ensure that you – and your suppliers – continue to comply with your obligations regarding the use of chemicals and other substances. We can also help you manage your submissions to the China Automotive Material Database System (CAMDS), or other reporting formats.
Contact SGS now to find out how our IMDS services can help with regulatory compliance.
