Roundtable on Sustainable Palmoil (RSPO) Certification

The production of palm oil for food and non-food uses has increased rapidly over the past 20 years. With this increase in production, has come a growing concern over the sustainability of oil palm cultivation and effects of palm oil production on local populations. In response to these concerns, a group of leading stakeholders and NGOs formed the Round Table on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) in 2004 to provide a model for responsible oil palm plantation management.
