On March 2, 2006, the Ministry of Information Industry (MII) of the People’s Republic of China published “Administrative Measure on the Control of Pollution Caused by Electronic Information Products” (ACPEIP or China RoHS). The law was signed as Decree No 39 of MII, and was jointly promulgated.
Owing to the requirements of technology and product functionality, some materials used in electronic information products contain toxic and hazardous substances and elements such as Lead (Pb), Mercury (Hg), Cadmium (Cd), Hexavalent Chromium [Cr(VI)], PBB & PBDE.
This measure is applied in order to control and reduce environmental pollution and other public hazards during the process of manufacturing, selling, and importing electronic information products within the territory of the People’s Republic of China.
