Collateral Management Services (CMA) Under a CMA, SGS acts as the custodian of the commodities and takes continuous possession of the Goods from the time the control is requested until the commodities are sold or exported. The benefit is to ensure availability and physical control of the commodities and to satisfy where it applies some security requirements such as dispossession of the goods from the debtor to a third party. Under certain legislation, CMA services may be regulated by specific disposition of law, such as “warrants” and “certificate of deposits”, which SGS satisfies. Stock Monitoring Services (SMA) Where the financing party does not require strong control over the Commodities by a third party, but rather wishes to secure traceability over the goods along the supply chain, SGS can provide either continuous monitoring services or periodic spot inspection.
